Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin Golden Harvest Edition

Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin Golden Harvest Edition
Platform: PlayStation 4
Year: 2020
Region: PAL

Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin is an RPG developed by Edelweiss that mixes side scrolling action with rice growing mechanics. The game was released in November 2020, and a collector’s edition was made available as well, called the Golden Harvest Edition.

This edition comes in a paper box with a sleeve on the outside. Removing the sleeve reveals the game’s beautiful artwork without the age ratings and other logo’s obscuring it. Unfortunately there is still a bar code on the art on the back, but for the most part the art gets its chance to shine.

Inside the box are four items. First of all, there is the game itself in a regular PlayStation 4 case. This version also has a reversible cover, with an art of a mountainous landscape on it.

Then there is a small poster. The artwork is great, but because it had to be folded in order to fit inside the box, you are left with fold lines, which is always kind of a shame. Both sides feature a different illustration.

A soundtrack is also included. There are three discs, for a total of 42 songs. The case looks rather nice, it can be folded open and there is an artwork of Sakuna behind each CD.

Lastly, this edition comes with an artbook as well. It’s filled with concept art, character sketches and gorgeous drawings of the game’s locations.

In conclusion, this is a nice little collector’s edition, that mainly draws on the strengths of the game’s artstyle to make for an attractive set of items.
