The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero – Deluxe Edition

The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero – Deluxe Edition
Platform: PlayStation 4
Year: 2022
Region: PAL

Another part of the massive Legend of Heroes series by Falcom, The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero was originally a PSP game from 2010, but later got ported to PC, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. There has been a bit of controversy surrounding the PS4 version, which lacks certain enhancements the Switch and PC ports have, but in the end all versions offer a great RPG.

This version was released in the west in September of 2022, with NIS Europe offering two different editions on their official store. The simpler version, called the Deluxe Edition could also be found at other webstores, and uses the same ‘formula’ as the other NIS Europe releases.

This means it includes some simple extras, namely a reversible cover, a mini artbook and a soundtrack.

Unfortunately, unlike the earlier releases by NIS Europe, the soundtrack no longer comes on a physical CD, but with a download code instead.

The physical artbook is still there though, and in a time where paper manuals with games have all but disappeared it’s cool to have something to leaf through again. Here you’ll find some nice colorful artwork of the game’s characters and locations.

The reversible cover features a somewhat different artwork on the front, and yet another one on the back.

While the lack of an actual CD is kind of disappointing, this is a fine edition for the budget conscious physical game collector.
