Assassin’s Creed Syndicate was released in October of 2015, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. At launch, several editions were available: the regular edition, a special edition that included some DLC, a Rooks Edition, a Gold Edition, a Charing Cross Edition and the largest, the Big Ben Edition, which was sold exclusively at the Uplay store. This article is about the Rooks Edition for PlayStation 4.

This edition comes in a nice looking case, with a print of a brick wall on it that has some signs painted on.

It folds open from the front along a ‘brick-shaped’ line, revealing the contents. Pretty original presentation.

First of all, the game itself. This is the special edition, meaning it comes with an extra mission.

A soundtrack CD is included as well. It contains 30 tracks. It only comes in a simple paper sleeve, but at least the soundtrack does have its own disc and the number of tracks on it isn’t bad at all.

There’s also a double-sided map of London. On one side there’s the map itself, on the other side advertisements from the world of the game, promoting Starrick’s Syrup.

The map is made from thick, heavy paper, giving it a nice feel.

Fourth, an art book containing concept art of the characters, weapons and environments from the game. The book isn’t particularly large, but it comes in a hardcover and has a really nice presentation: the front has a relief and a special shine to it, making it look as if it’s made from steel.

The concept art for the Assassin’s Creed games is always very impressive, with paintings capturing the right mood for each area.

Lastly, it comes with two extra missions: The Darwin and Dickens Conspiracy mentioned earlier, and Runaway Train.

With this many editions to choose from, fans really have to decide for themselves what they are prepared to spend on this game, and while the Rooks Edition doesn’t come with the impressive statues that can be found in other editions, it does seem to have the most appealing price / content ratio for those who want to have a nice looking case but aren’t willing to spend at least 100 euros. While its contents aren’t terribly original, they all look and feel nice, and the soundtrack is surprisingly meaty. In conclusion, it’s a nice package for an attractive price.
