Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2 Dracula’s Tomb Premium Edition
Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2 Dracula’s Tomb Premium Edition
Platform: Xbox 360, PlayStation 3
Year: 2014
Region: PAL
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 was released in 2014 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. Aside from the regular version, a steel book version was available as well, and in Europe and Australia, a large collector’s edition called the Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2 Dracula’s Tomb Premium Edition for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
As the name suggests, this edition comes in a bulky black box representing Dracula’s tomb. Strangely enough this Tomb Box doesn’t come in its own casing, you get it as is, quite unusual. Instead, you get a cardboard box with the name printed on the side, but it seems like you’re supposed to throw that out. The tomb itself looks pretty cool: made from black paper and featuring an embossed Belmont family crest and the family’s name.
A hardcover artbook is included, containing 100 pages of artwork.
It looks surprisingly good for an art book that comes with a special edition, large in size and containing plenty of artworks of the different environments, characters and enemies.
The game itself comes in a shiny red steel book, with Dracula on both the front and the back.
There’s an artwork on the inside as well.
On the bottom of the box, embedded in a layer of foam, are four 10 centimeters tall figurines of characters from the game, designed by Neil Googe (whoever that may be).
Lastly, some downloadable content: two character skins (Dark Dracula and Armoured Dracula), and an in game power up (the Relic Rune Pack).
While the first Lords of Shadows game was a success and considered to be the first excellent 3D Castlevania game, the sequel had a more negative reception. That’s probably why this collector’s edition, once sold for €99, can now be picked up for a fraction of that. The supply is simply exceeding the demand, and stores are trying to get rid of them. However, for €30, this seems like a very good deal. The tomb looks quite impressive and the art book is better than what you usually get. So for today’s prices, a good item for collectors.
