The Evil Within Limited Edition
The Evil Within Limited Edition
Released: 2014
Platform: Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC
Regions: PAL
The Evil Within came out in 2014 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. In the PAL region, two versions were available: the regular one and a limited edition. Then there’s a steelbook only sold at several stores. This article however looks at the limited edition.
The limited edition comes in a paper sleeve, with a cut out in the front showing the lenticular card behind it. The effect actually works surprisingly well, it really appears to be a 3D image, but unfortunately you can’t see it on the photo.
Inside the paper sleeve are the card, inside a separate compartment in the front together with a small book. The game itself is in the compartment behind it.
The booklet, called Sebastian’s Diary, is a small soft-cover book with some artworks inside, but mostly blank pages, which is kind of disappointing. There could have been some background information on the characters or world on there, but no.
There’s some DLC included as well, called the Fighting Chance Pack, which consists of several upgrades. There’s also a flyer promoting the game’s Season Pass, and of course the game’s manual.
One thing that’s nice is that you also get an alternative cover for the game, with an artwork reminiscent of Resident Evil 4’s European minimalistic graphic cover. Though the normal box art is nice as well.
So, in conclusion, not an amazing collector’s edition, but it needs to be said that it was very affordable. It was sold for around the same price of the regular version, with some stores selling it for even less than regular game prices. So with that in mind, there’s not much ground to complain. A nice item for its price.
