Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Collector’s Edition
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Collector’s Edition
Platform: Switch
Year: 2017
Region: PAL
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is the sequel to the highly regarded Wii game from 2010, Xenoblade Chronicles (later ported to New 3DS). This sequel was released in December of 2017, exclusively for Nintendo Switch. Two versions were available, a regular release and a large collector’s edition.
The collector’s edition comes in a surprisingly large paper box, adorned with a stylishly minimalistic artwork. Deep red contrasts nicely with the black silhouette of Pyra, one of the blades of the game’s protagonist, Rex.
The back is shiny gold with a white silhouette of Rex’ other blade, Mythra.
Upon removing the jacket, a black box with silver symbols is revealed.
The box opens by sliding the two parts in opposite directions. Doing so reveals it contents.
The main item included is a large and heavy artbook. It has 219 pages and is filled with colorful artwork, divided over 6 chapters: characters, enemies, titans, locations, weapons and objects.

One neat little touch is the drawing on the side of the pages. Looking from one direction it shows a blade, while looking from the other direction reveals a line of symbols.
Directly below the artbook are two cases: a steelbook and the game itself.
The steelbook shows Rex holding the Aegis (the game’s legendary weapon), with its two incarnations Pyra and Mythra.
On the back is the core crystal of Aegis.
The inside shows an artwork of Rex and Mythra looking up to the World-Tree.
The game itself comes with a reversible cover.
Lastly, below these two items is one more things: the official soundtrack.
The CD is titled Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Sound Selection, and comes with 13 tracks.
In conclusion, this is a very nice collector’s edition. The artbook is truly impressive in terms of size and contents, with many different kind of artworks in there. And it’s always cool to see a nice presentation for the box itself, something this edition does very well.
