Dante’s Inferno Death Edition
Dante’s Inferno Death Edition
Platform: Xbox 360, PlayStation 3
Year: 2010
Region: PAL
Dante’s Inferno was released in 2010 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable. In Europe, a special edition called the Death Edition was also released alongside the regular version, while in North America, another version called the Divine Edition was available exclusively for PlayStation 3. In addition, there is a Game of the Year Edition release called the ‘St. Lucia Edition’, which apparently only came out in Italy.
The Death Edition comes in a fold out paper packaging inside a sleeve with lenticular cover. On the cover, we see Dante with his scythe. The lenticular print creates an illusion of depth when tilted.
The paper packaging inside holds two discs: the game and a bonus disc. Printed on the inside are representations of each circle of hell.
On the back is a spread image of Death himself, and the name of this edition.
The bonus disc comes with a making of, a documentary titled ‘Dante in History’, the soundtrack, a behind the scenes video showing the making of the audio and music, a digital art book, a scene from the animated film, and an English reprint of the original poem the game was based on. It also comes with a code for a downloadable Isaac Clarke space suit.
All in all not a really spectacular special edition, though the bonus disc has a lot of content. Other than that it doesn’t have any notable extras, aside from a nice packaging. Still, since you can get this version quite cheap nowadays, it may still be interesting for collectors.
