Muramasa Rebirth, the PlayStation Vita version of the 2009 Wii game Muramasa: The Demon Blade, was released in 2013. In Europe, the game only got a digital release, but a physical version was available in North America. What’s more, American gamers could even get their hands on a special edition, called the Muramasa Rebirth Blessing of Amitabha Collector’s Edition.

This edition comes in a paper box, one that’s pretty thin and fragile. This means it gets damaged quite easily, something that actually happened with this copy.

Alright, onto the contents. First of all, the game itself. The case looks good, with a nice hand drawn artwork on it.

There’s also a black velvet pouch meant to carry your PlayStation Vita around, with the logo of the game on it. Doesn’t look too bad, but it doesn’t seem that useful as this will not really protect the system all that well.

Also included, a face cover for the PlayStation Vita with the game’s logo on the back. To be honest, this thing looks downright ugly, its just a chunk of grey plastick. Seems like a waste to put your nice looking system in this case.

There’s also a soundtrack in there, it comes in a paper sleeve. Unfortunately there are only five tracks on the CD.

Then there’s a skin for your PlayStation Vita, but with all the logos and effects on there it looks kind of cheap. Again, not something you want to ruin the look of your system with.

The best extra is actually this: an envelope with a lithograph inside. The artwork looks good and the paper its printed has a nice texture. It actually comes with a paper frame as well.

All in all this collector’s edition isn’t all that great, its contents are just a bit disappointing. With the exception of the lithograph it all feels and looks a bit cheap. That said, this wasn’t an awfully expensive edition when it came out. Still, some thing could have been simply been better. This one is only for the most serious collectors – or if you can find it cheap.
